Essays

Essay A

Ancient Egyptians social hierarchy made them stand out from other civilizations. At the top as a half god half human stood the Pharaoh, and going to the bottom was the lower class consisting of farmers and slaves. This system gave the upper class more privileges than the lower class and they lived a richer life.
The Pharaoh was the ruler of two lands and lived as a god among his people. He controlled everything around them and was responsible for the world around him and his people, no matter if it was good or bad. In fact, Pharaohs would even be replaced when going through bad events such as droughts. Below the Pharaoh, there was the upper class men. These people were known as the "white kilt class". They consisted of government officials, priests, physicians, and engineers. Below them was the middle class and then the lower class. The middle class consisted of mainly merchants, artisans, and some farmers. At the very bottom lied the slaves who would work for the higher classes. The higher up on the pyramid you go, the more successful you are and could live a better life.
This life style seemed to work out well for the ancient Egyptians. They had a government system and everyone knew there role is society. This hierarchy allowed the Egyptians to be able to make civil decisions because they had a supreme ruler, the Pharaoh. This newly developed society pyramid has developed over thousands of years and into how it is today.

Essay B

The Nile river in Egypt is what allowed their civilization to become so successful. They relied on it greatly for transportation and irrigation, and without it they may have never survived. It is what makes the dry desert of Egypt habitable.
The Ancient Egyptians used the Nile river for multiple things and helped them immensely. Whenever the Nile would flood, the Egyptians used the overflowing water for irrigation. They made paths for the water to pass through, allowing their crops to use it to grow and produce food. The flood also creates silt which is great for farming. Along with that, it was a great way of transportation. They developed boats where they could go up and down the river, making it a lot easier for traveling. This was especially useful for merchants who wanted to sell their product more than just locally.
The Nile allowed so many opportunities for the ancient Egyptians, along with technological advances. Today the Nile still runs, and still helps out Modern Egypt. It is still running and is one of the only rivers in the world to run south to north. The Nile was a blessing among their people, and without it, it would not have been successful at all.
